Obituary of Virginia M. Ducar
Virginia M. "Ginny" Ducar passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 20, 2016 under the compassionate care of the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
Born in Troy on April 19, 1944, the daughter of the late David G. and Rita Britt Ford, was a 1961 graduate of Catholic Central and Mildred Elley School. Ginny retired in 2007 from a career with the Catholic Social Services of Broome County and she and her husband relocated to this area. She loved travel, golf and was an avid baseball fan. Devoted to her faith, Ginny was a Eucharistic Minister at her parish, St. Edward the Confessor, a member of the Women of Faith, and a volunteer at the St. John- St. Ann Welcome Table, and the Emmaus Meal Program of Cohoes Community Church. She was also a member of the Southern Saratoga County Women's Club. Ginny was a friend to all who met her and will be remembered for her compassionate and caring nature, keeping her family at the center of her life.
On June 10, 1967 she married Charlie Ducar ("Duke") . In addition to her beloved husband, she leaves her daughters Julie Ducar Bennett (Nick) of Cambridge MA, Kara M. McGuinness ( Brian) of Stone Ridge, NY and Leslie B. Ducar ( Greg Myers) of Watervliet NY; grandchildren Noah and Samuel Bennett and Abigail and Vivian McGuinness; her sister Marylee Grosso (Frank) of Alexandria, VA., sister- in- law Jean Ducar and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ginny was predeceased by her sister Susan Kawka.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, Clifton Park, by Fr. Pat Butler. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Chapel of St. Edward's Church. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at the Gerald BH Solomon National Cemetery Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers it was Ginny's request that memorials be made to the St. Edward's Building Fund, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd. Clifton Park, NY 12065. Her care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home.
