Obituary of Sharon L. Wood
Sharon L. Wood, 53, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away after a lengthy illness.
Sharon was born on June 26, 1952 in Amsterdam, NY. She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1970. She attended SUC at Oneonta and Buffalo State, graduating in 1974. She received her master?s degree from SUNY Albany. She worked as a Speech Therapist in various schools in the Capitol District. In 1980 she was offered a position at Boys? Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE as a Speech and Language Pathologist where she worked until her health forced her to retire in 2004.
Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Kristin L. Teare, 21, and Caitlin E. Teare, 18, both of Omaha. She was the daughter of Phyllis L. Wood of Amsterdam and Vedder R. Wood, who pre-deceased her. She is the sister of Kathy L. Wood of Boston, MA and Richard V. Wood Patricia of Amsterdam. She is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her friends and co-workers in the Omaha and Amsterdam areas.
A memorial service was held at the Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha at 10:00AM on August 6, 2005. Contributions may be made through the family at 1312 N. 52nd Street, Omaha, NE 68132. Sharon?s choice was a memorial bench at the Lauritzen Gardens where she spent many happy hours. Her daughters wish to use any additional funds for the Methodist Hospital Cancer Center or the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
There will be a memorial service for Sharon at the United Presbyterian Church of Amsterdam at a later date.
