Obituary of Robert D. Streeter
Mr. Robert D. Streeter, 88, of Streeter Road, Fonda, NY died peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2012 following a brief illness, with his devoted wife by his side.
Bob was born on October 25, 1923 in Gloversville, NY the only son of the late Wesley and Ruth Streeter. He attended local schools and worked at several glove mills in the area until his retirement. Bob was a life member of the Town of Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department serving over 60 years in various capacities, mainly as a Fire Policeman. One of his greatest passions in life was helping others in their time of need. He was also a 50 year member of the Fonda Reformed Church and the Glen Mohawk Seniors.
On September 6, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Jeanne McMillan. Together for nearly 60 years they shared a beautiful marriage of unconditional love.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne; a special cousin, Loretto A. Cranker Thum and her children, Donald Jason "DJ" Thum and his wife Amy and Christine A. Bagnardi and her husband Jason all of Fonda, NY; their neighbors and "adopted" grandchildren, Judd and Sherri Kirschman, Joshua and Danny; treasured cousins, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will commence on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10 o'clock at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Josh Baron presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home; where the Glen- Mohawk Seniors will gather at 4:30p.m. to offer a prayer service. Members of the Town of Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department will gather at 6:30p.m. for a service for their fallen brother.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Fonda Reformed Church or to the Glen- Mohawk Seniors.
