Obituary of Frances Dombroski
Mrs. Frances ?Fifi? Dombroski, 84, formerly of East Main Street, Nelliston, current resident of Sharon Manor, Sharon Springs passed away Thursday at Bassett Hospital in Cobleskill after a short illness.
Born on June 8, 1920, in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of Walter and Rose Gatelis Rimkis, she was a life-long area resident and a graduate of Ft. Plain High School.
Mrs. Dombroski worked for Harold Sponable Insurance Agency in Ft. Plain from the time she graduated from high school until her retirement. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings, horse racing, and eating out.
She married Joseph Dombroski in May of 1940. He died in June of 1975. Although they had no children of their own, they enjoyed spoiling their many nieces & nephews. Aunt ?Fifi? was truly a special lady. She was also pre-deceased by a brother, Walter Rimkis; and three sisters, Sadie Kornburst, Jaye Trembly and her husband Charles, and Beatty Shockley and her husband George.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Betty Rimkis of Herkimer, and Helen Dombroski of Amsterdam; three nieces, Lynn Bunt and her husband Buddy of Hartwick, Dona Retchless and her husband Gerry of Clay, and Diane Rimkis of Clay; four nephews, Chris Shockley and his wife Patty of Rochester, Tom Shockley and his wife Laura of Clifton Park, Joe Trembly and his companion Caroline of Nelliston, and Rich Trembly and his wife Michelle of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie. The burial will take place in St. Casimir?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be Monday from 11 am until 12 noon, prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Springs Ambulance Corps. or to a charity of one?s choice.
