Obituary of Michael P. Preli

Michael P. Preli, 50, of Ridge Rd., Amsterdam passed away suddenly in Amsterdam after being stricken. Born on July 9, 1954 in Queens, NY he was the son of Frank and Recki DiMuzzio Preli. Michael was educated in Queens and has lived in the Amsterdam area for the past 23 years. Michael worked first as a carpenter for the local union in Albany. He later became the Owner and operator of Mohawk Motor Sports in Amsterdam and also ran his own contracting business, P & P Contracting in Amsterdam. Michael was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Survivors include his wife, Mary Rakowski Preli whom he married on August 15, 1982; his mother, Recki Preli of Florida; 2 sons, Michael Preli of Amsterdam, and Andrew Preli of Amsterdam; 2 step daughters, Venessa McNair and her husband Donnie of Utah, and Alyssa Marotta of Gloversville; a brother, Frank Preli of Amsterdam; a sister, Patricia Hanus and her husband Jerry of Florida; a grandson, Benjamin McNair; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. Calling hours will take place on Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions maybe made in Michael?s memory to a charity of ones choice.
