Obituary of Dorothea Ann Folmsbee

Dorothea "Dortie" Ann Folmsbee, 73, of Highland Terrace, Ft. Plain, passed away early Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a short illness. Born on July 7, 1931 in Ft. Plain, NY, she was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Mrs. Folmsbee was employed by Luxuray in Ft. Plain for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Folmsbee lived in St. Johnsville with her husband, Everett L. Folmsbee, whom she married on July 17, 1948 until he passed away on March 30, 1978. She enjoyed her home and the years she spent with her husband in St. Johnsville. In her later years she enjoyed going to craft fairs, loved dining out and spending time with her friends. Mrs. Folmsbee attended St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ft. Plain. Survivors include 6 cousins, Helen W. Calbet and her husband Jack of Ft. Plain, Marilyn Luft and her husband Richard of Ft. Plain, Shirley Dagner and her husband Harry of Ballston Spa, Paul Birk of Nelliston, Mary Wahler of Ft. Plain, and Roger Wahler and his wife Judy of Washington; several second cousins and many dear friends also survive. Mrs. Folmsbee was predeceased by a brother, Harry H. Hoag on December 27, 1989. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The burial will take place in the West St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
