Obituary of Kenneth Goodbread

Mr. Kenneth L. Goodbread Sr., age 88, died Tuesday evening, February 8, 2005 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where he had resided the past five years. He was born March 19, 1916 in Johnstown, son of the late Adam and Luella Stock Goodbread. He received his education in Gloversville schools, and served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was employed by the former Fulton County Coal and Oil Company for many years, and retired from Thum´s Measuring Co; Gloversville. Mr. Goodbread was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, and a former member of the Gloversville Eagles Aerie. He was married on March 26, 1944 to Shirley M. Joseph who survives. Also surviving are three children, Donna M. Dumar and her husband Richard of Glendale, AZ; Kenneth L. Goodbread Jr. and his wife Kathy of Olive Branch, IL; and Paula K. Tucker and her husband Myron of Broadalbin, NY; two brothers, Arnold Goodbread of Gloversville and Merwyn Goodbread of Concord, NH; two sisters, Gladys Ambrosino of Gloversville and Vernice Lasher of Syracuse; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was precededed in death by his brother Dayton Goodbread and sister Vivian Goodbread. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday with the Rev. Paul Butler officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
