Obituary of Josephine Slachtovsky
Josephine Slachtovsky 83, of First Avenue, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on August 8, 1921 she was educated here and was a lifelong resident.
Josephine worked for a time at the former Chalmer?s Button Factory and later was a nurses aid at Montgomery County Infirmary, now the Meadows, retiring twenty years ago. After retirement, she enoyed spending time with her granddaughter, teaching her to play pinochle.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus? Roman Catholic Church.
Her husband, John Slachtovsky predeceased her in 1967.
Also, her daughter in law Charlotte Slachtovsky and her sisters Winifred Jankowski, and Cora Cook all predeceased her.
Her loving family includes her son John M. Slachtovsky of Amsterdam; a granddaughter Jennifer J. Slachtovsky; a sister, Stella Wager of Amsterdam; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Thursday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed at 9:30 am at St. Stanislaus? Church for a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated by Fr. David Mickiewicz.
Calling hours are today from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus? Church Organ Fund, or the Foundation of St. Mary?s Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
