Obituary of Raffella Sansalone Turo
Raffella ?Rae? Sansalone Turo, 76, of West Main Street, passed away Tuesday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility peacefully with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam where she lived her entire life, on June 18, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Gambardella Sansalone , she was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Rae worked as a secretary for the General Electric Company in Schenectady. She also helped her parents in the family business, the former Sansalone?s Market. She and her husband owned and operated Turo?s Service Center on West Main for many years.
An active communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, she was also a member of it?s Santa Sofia Society for many years.
She was always there for anyone to lend a helping hand, and was known for her kindness and loving nature. An excellent cook , she truly enjoyed being with her family and the many holiday gatherings they all shared.
On October 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Albert Vincent Turo Sr.
In addition to her beloved husband of nearly fifty-five years, she is survived by her sons; Albert V. Turo Jr. and his wife, Carol of Albany; Joseph P. Turo and his wife Ann Marie of Delmar; and Thomas J. Turo and his wife Kimberly of Hagaman; six grandchildren; Brian Turo and his wife Danielle; Jonathan, Matthew, Michael, Joshua and Alyssa Turo; her sister: Gilda Mrs. Angelo DiBlasi of Chatsworth, Ca.; and nieces, nephews , cousins and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, and two sisters; Mary Filiberto and an infant sister Violet Sansalone.
Services are Friday morning at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant.
Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8
pm with the Santa Sofia Society meeting at 3:45 pm for prayers. Contributions may be made in Rae?s name to Catholic Charities Of Montgomery County, or the St. Michael?s Church Memorial Fund all in care of the funeral home.
