Obituary of Charles Provenzano
Charles Provenzano, Sr., 77, of Oakland Avenue, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital.
Born in Yonkers, NY on October 16, 1927, the son of Salvatore and Maria Caramazza Provenzano, he moved to Amsterdam as a child from Connecticut, where he has since resided.
In 1946, he entered the US Army and was stationed in Panama as a Private First Class. Charles later began his career in journalism and worked in the circulation department at the Gazette Newspaper and later in the same capacity for the Amsterdam Recorder for twelve years. He then was employed as district sales manager for the Utica Observer Dispatch. For the past ten years, he was employed in the security department at Ward Products.
A communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 55. Charles loved to travel, play cards and was an excellent cook.
His wife, the former Adaline Bardascini predeceased him on October 11, 1983.
His loving family includes his son; Charles Provenzano Jr. of Long Beach California; his beloved companion Karen M. Miller of Amsterdam; his brothers;
Alfonso and his wife Dorothy Provenzano and Anthony Provenzano all of Amsterdam; his sisters; Vincenza Weishaar of Delmar, Nancy LaSala of Albany, and Anne Vilar of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are Friday morning at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant.
