Obituary of Catherine Scafidi

Catherine A. Constantino Scafidi, 84, of Midline Rd., passed away Thursday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on July 26, 1920, the daughter of Bartolo and Rosalina Palamara Constantino, she attended local schools and was a lifelong resident. A home maker, she loved to cook, and spend time with her grandchildren. Catherine was employed at one time for Mohawk Carpets, and then Collette Manufacturing both located in Amsterdam. She was a communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman. On October 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Scafidi at St. Michael?s Church. He predeceased her on Nov. 7, 1986. Also, her brothers, John , Onofrio and Thomas Constantino and her step mother, Mary Constantino predeceased her. Her loving family includes her daughter, Donna and her husband Robert Howland Sr. of Amsterdam; her sister, Rose Thomas of Amsterdam, and grandchildren, Christopher and Kayla Howland, several nieces , nephews and cousins. Services are Monday morning at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Stephen?s Church in Hagaman. Fr. Ronald Matulewicz, celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm at the funeral home.
