Obituary of Joseph W. Weitzmann

Joseph W. Weitzmann, Jr., 67, of Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam passed away early Saturday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital after a short illness. Born on October 17, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Joseph W. Weitzmann Sr. and Marie Gillis Weitzmann. Mr. Weitzmann attended local schools in Pennsylvania, where he lived most of his life. He was employed for many years as a security guard by Globe Security in Philadelphia, PA. He later moved to Bear, Delaware and then Elkton, Maryland where he lived for a short time until moving to Amsterdam four years ago. Mr. Weitzmann is of the Roman Catholic Faith. Survivors include is fiancée, Mary Christinzio of Amsterdam; 3 sons, Joseph W. Weitzmann III of Newark, DE, Richard Weitzmann of Amsterdam, and Albert Weitzmann of Philadelphia, PA; 4 daughters, Dorothy Ann Papa of Philadelphia, PA, Esther Lenzner of Philadelphia, PA, Betty Jean Pool of Smyrna, DE, and Mary Barret of Levittown, PA; 3 sisters, 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal A. Iannotti officiating. The burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral service from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
