Obituary of James E. Friers
James E. Friers, 86, of Oneida, formerly of Fultonville, NY died Tuesday, March 8 at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Rome, NY.
Born in Fultonville on May 1, 1918 a son of Elijah ?Jack? and Grace Magley Friers. He resided in Fultonville until 1969 when he moved to Oneida. He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Friers worked for over 33 years for the New York State Thruway Authority as Toll Division Supervisor until retiring in 1978. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his love of the outdoors. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Mildred, who died in 1973. He remarried and was pre-deceased by his wife Joyce in 2004.
He was also preceded in death by a son Jack Friers who died in 2004.

One Son- William Friers and his wife Patricia of Syracuse, NY
One Sister- Bessie Butler of Scotia, NY
A Daughter in Law- Gloria Friers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Eight Grandchildren- Mary Stream and her husband Elton.
Sue, Beth, Carol, Laura, Jim, Ed and Amy Friers.
One Great Grandson- Aspen Friers.
Many Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 12, 2005 at 10:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Nancy Pullen presiding. Interment will take place in Maple Ave. Cemetery, Fultonville. The family will receive relatives and friend on Friday March 11 from 4-7P.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home in Fultonville.
