Obituary of Kathryn A. Jones

Kathryn A. Jones, age 77, formerly of Gloversville, died Monday March 14, 2005 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, where she had resided the past nine years. She was born December 4, 1927 in Gloversville, a daughter of Howard and Elsie Hunt Jones. A graduate of Gloversville High School, Kathryn received her registered nursing degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She was employed as a registered nurse at hospitals in New York City, Connecticut and Florida. She later assisted her companion Nelson Kennedy in the operation of the former Kennedy Glove Company in Johnstown for many years. Kathryn was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Gloversville, where she was a former bookkeeper and choir member. An avid gardener, she loved to go fishing and boating, and ?lunch bunching? with her friends. Survivors include a sister, Barbara Brown of Gloversville, a nephew, Michael Brown of Gloversville, two nieces, Kathy Hermans of Johnstown and Kelly Shields of Ballston Lake, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert F. Jones, and her longtime companion Nelson Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the James A.
