Obituary of Bennie Stanionis
Bennie P. Stanionis, 82, of Chapman Drive, passed away Saturday at his home.
Born in Amsterdam on Nov. 3, 1922, the son of John and Helen Kazlauskas Stanionis, he lived here most of his life. During World War II, he served aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific with the United States Navy. Bennie was employed as a master mechanic and worked on the early computer systems, until he retired.
He was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701, and the former American Lithuanian Club.
His loving family includes a sister, Elizabeth ?Betty? Kuzmich of Scotia; and a brother, Joseph P. Stanionis of Rutland VT. A niece, Lin Stanionis, also survives.
Bennie was predeceased by: his parents; a brother, John Stanionis; and a sister, Mary Stanionis.
A private Liturgy Of Christian Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Fr. Stanley J. Swierzowski, officiating. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. There are no calling hours at Bennie?s request. Contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Memorial Fund, 260 East Main Street, Amsterdam 12010.
