Obituary of Angelina S. Carbone
Mrs. Angelina S. Carbone, 88, of East Main St, Fonda passed away Monday morning at her home from congestive heart failure after a long illness.
Born on July 6, 1916 in Schenectady, NY she was the daughter of Giovanni and Florence Luciano Zannitto. Mrs. Carbone was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools in Fonda.
During the 1930?s and 1940?s Mrs. Carbone worked as a seamstress in the local clothing factories, later she went to work for the Fonda-Fultonville School District as part of the kitchen staff and served as kitchen manager from 1956 until 1971. Mrs. Carbone then went to work as a custodian for the Fonda-Fultonville School District from 1971 until her retirement in 1984.
She was a communicant of St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church, was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the church.
Mrs. Carbone was married to Salvatore S. Carbone on October 25, 1947. He passed away on July 8, 1956. She was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Joseph and Peter Zannitto; and most recently a sister, Catherine Zannitto.
Survivors include her son, Salvatore J. Carbone of Fonda; 6 sisters, Carrie Compani of Fonda, Mary Grasso of Dallas, PA, Josephine Marx of Niskayuna, Anna Moore of Fonda, Mildred Palleschi of Fonda, and Delores Wohlgemuth of Fultonville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church, in Fonda with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. officiating. The burial will take place in St. Cecilia?s Cemetery in Fonda. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
