Obituary of Raymond F. Brownell

Raymond F. Brownell, 83, of 71 Hill St, Gloversville died peacefully and was healed on Wednesday at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam after a brief illness. He was born August 8, 1921 in Perth, the son of Daniel and Minnie Brownell. He served in the Army of the United States during World War II as an airplane mechanic. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star. During his life he worked as a leather worker for Independent Leather and Harold Smith?s Leather. He was known by many as the milkman, delivering milk for Skiff?s Dairy for 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, golfing, flying and woodworking. He enjoyed playing cards at family gatherings, especially with his grandchildren that he loved so very much. One of his later hobbies was building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He was a member of the Lazy Eights. He enjoyed playing games and spending time with his great- grandson, Garret. Ray is lovingly survived by his wife of 57 years, Erna L, Hickok Brownell. Daughters; Berneice Brownell of Pennsylvania, Bonnylee Rudy Pavlick of Broadalbin and Sherry Jim Ermie of Johnstown. Two sisters; Margaret Donati of Schenectady and Jane Brownell of Gloversville. One brother; Henry Hank Brownell of Gloversville. Grandchildren; Christopher Heather Kroup, Jeremiah Kroup, Sarah Hayes, Tom Pavlick, Rudy Sala, Neal Lisa Longe, Jessica Longe, Thomas Ermie, Christina Ermie, and Jessica Ermie, and a special buddy his great grandson Garret Raymond Hayes. A Graveside service and urn burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Perth Cemetery. Cremation took place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady.
