Obituary of Roland P. Chase

Mr. Roland P. Chase Jr., age 84, formerly of Ephratah, died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown. He was born February 22, 1921 in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of Roland and Harriet Thornton Chase. He served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. His employemnt as a glove maker throughout his lifetime was appreciated by his employers at the Acme Glove Company and Daniel Hayes Glove Company in Gloversville, and the Noone Glove Co; Johnstown. Mr. Chase was married to Esther M. Smith who died in 1983. He later married Margaret Polmateer Saltsman who died in 2004. He is survived by two sons, Douglas W. Chase Pat of Gloversville and Dale P. Chase Linda of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Kevin Chase, Amy Weaver and Katherine Smith ; and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
