Obituary of Joseph R. Waveris
Joseph R. Waveris, 93, of North Second Avenue, Broadalbin, died on arrival Thursday afternoon at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, N.Y. after being involved in an auto accident in Broadalbin.
Born January 7, 1912, in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of Joseph and Winifred Dardzinska Wawieris. He lived in Amsterdam until 1972 when he moved to Broadalbin.
Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and served as a corporal in the Battle of the Bulge where he was taken prisoner in Germany for several months.
He was employed by Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for 24 years and later worked for General Electric in Schenectady until retiring in 1972.
Joseph attended the former St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and attended St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
He was a former member of the V.F.W. in Amsterdam and was a life member of the International Union of Electrical Workers Local 301 in Schenectady.
He loved working around his home, tending to the vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed traveling.
On June 26, 1948, he married the former Muriel Calhoun.
Besides his wife he is survived by; a son, Robert Waveris and his wife Donna of Palatine Bridge, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Amy Waveris and David Waveris; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2005 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, N.Y.
Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday morning from 11 to 12 noon at the funeral home. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be held that morning at 11:45 prior to the service.
