Obituary of Sophie M. Crocini

Sophie M. Crocini, 75, of Washington Street, Fultonville, N.Y. died one day before her birthday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born April 27, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Jan and Sophie Nowacki Mazurski. Sophie held various jobs in the Long Island area and moved to Fultonville 16 years ago where she first worked at the Switch Grocery Store in Fultonville. She then was employed for Walmart in Gloversville for 14 years in the fabrics and craft department. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church in Fonda, N.Y. Sophie loved to sew and was very devoted to her faith. In 1949 she married John Crocini, who died in 1988. Survivor?s include a daughter, Christine A. Crocini - Quackenbush and her husband John of Fultonville; a grandson, Daniel Quackenbush; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Sophie was predeceased by a brother Michael Mazurski. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 29, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, N.Y. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia?s Roman Catholic Church in Fonda with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher OFM Conv. as celebrant. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats in Fonda. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
