Obituary of Marie W. Otto

Marie W. Otto, 83, formerly of Coolidge Rd. Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday May 10, in Scottsdale, AZ. Born in Amsterdam on Dec. 6, 1921, the daughter of Raymond and Marie Warner Hammond, she was a graduate of Amsterdam High School. She was employed by the former Holzhiemer and Shaul Store in Amsterdam for a time. Marie was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married also singing in its choir. She and her late husband Max B. Otto moved to Phoenix, Arizona first in 1964. They then relocated to Scotia in 1966 and returned to Arizona in 1970. There, she was employed by the Broadway Department Store and was a member of St. Andrew?s Lutheran Church. Marie was most happy being a loving wife, mother and homemaker. Her husband predeceased her on Dec. 12, 1997. Her loving family includes her son, Richard Otto and his wife Barbara of Mesa AZ, her daughter Tina Cox of Thousand Palms, CA, grandchildren, Rachel Gomez-Acosta, Leah Darling and Sarah Otto; great grandchildren, Marianna Gomez-Acosta and Dylan Darling; nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Wednesday May 18th at 11:00 am at Fairview Cemetery, Steadwell Avenue. The Rev. Elaine Berg officiating. There are no prior calling hours, and contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010.
