Obituary of Jane J. Decowski
Jane J. Decowski, 85, of Church Street, passed away Sunday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Amsterdam on November 23, 1919, she was the last surviving child of Michael and Antonia Barszcz Decowski and lived here all her life. She was employed for the Army Depot for many years and also for the Federal Government in Washington. She retired in 1987 from the New York State Department of Taxation And Finance. Jane was a lifelong communicant of St. Stanislaus? Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Polish National Alliance.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Matthew Decowski, sisters, Mary and Martha Decowski and a sister-in-law Genevieve Felczak.
Her loving family includes her niece, Barbara Mrs. George Small of Mayfield; a grandnephew, George Small Jr. of Mayfield, a grandniece, Lisa Piseczny of Rotterdam and two great grand nieces, Erin and Elyse Piseczny.
A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus? Church with Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, as celebrant. Interment was in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. There were no calling hours at Jane?s request. Contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 247 Manny Corners Rd., Amsterdam. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
