Obituary of Ann S. Kroup

Ann S. Dargush Kroup, 83, of Glenwood Blvd., Schenectady and formerly of Highland Ave. Ft. Johnson, NY passed away Thursday June 2, 2005 at her daughter?s home in Schenectady where she has lived for the last 5 years. Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 15, 1921 a daughter of James and Mary Kazlauskas Dargush. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended Amsterdam Schools and was a 1939 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School in Amsterdam. She was employed at one time by Bond Cleaners, Mohawk Carpet Mills, White Stag Co. and the former Mohawk Sportswear, all in Amsterdam. Mrs. Kroup was a communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was a member of the church?s Altar Rosary Society, the St. Casimir?s Ladies Auxiliary and was a past member and President of the American Lithuanian Club Women?s Auxiliary. Ann enjoyed spending many wonderful times with relatives and friends at her summer place on the Great Sacandaga Lake and ?A Good Time Was Had By All!? Her first husband, Peter C. Urban, was killed in action during World War II in France on June 8, 1944. She then married James P. Kroup on August 10, 1946 at St. Casimir?s Church in Amsterdam. They spent 50 years together prior to his passing on January 2, 1997. Mrs. Kroup was the last surviving sibling in the Dargush family. Her brothers Bennie and Vincent, her twin brother, Tony, and her sisters Bernice, Sophie Potts and Jean ?Dolly? Kristie all pre-deceased her. Survivors include her only daughter, Deborah Kroup, and her companion William Bedford of Schenectady, NY; two cousins, Gen Krause and Eleanor Hardies; sisters-in- law, Sophie Olbie, Sadie Dargush and Stephanie Kroup, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Monday June 6, 2005 at 10:30A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30A.M. at St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam with the Rev. Stanley Swierzowski as celebrant. Interment is in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday June 5, 2005 from 4-7P.M. at the funeral home. The St. Casimir's Ladies Auxiliary will be at the visitation at 6P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Casimir?s Cemetery Fund, 260 East Main St. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
