Obituary of Donald M. Rieth

Mr. Donald M. Rieth, age 75, of Gloversville, died Monday, June 13, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Emergency Room after being stricken at home. His death followed a long illness. He was born February 10, 1930 in Gloversville, a son of the late Julius and Blanche Tallon Rieth. He was employed at General Electric Company in Schenectady for several years. Don was a great wood worker, and was also a self-employed carpenter for many years. He later owned and operated Rieth Moving and Storage in Gloversville for over 30 years until his retirement. On October 21, 1950 he was married to the former Marilyn G. Marsh who survives. Two sons also survive him, Michael A. Rieth Norah of Mayfield and Donald W. Rieth of Albany; two sisters, Patricia B. Rieth of Gloversville and Betty Baldwin Herb of Burnt Hills; a brother, William Rieth of Burnt Hills; two grandsons, David Rieth of Albany and Eric D. Rieth of Johnstown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His infant daughter, Kathleen Marie Rieth and his brother Robert Rieth predeceased him. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday with the Rev. Paul Butler officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
