Marie A. Rogers Carey
Amsterdam, N.Y.?Marie A. Rogers Carey, 79, of Romeyn Avenue, died Tuesday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born March 6, 1926, in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna Greco Martuscello. She graduated from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1944 and the Amsterdam School of Commerce.
Marie was employed as a secretary for Amsterdam Printing & Litho in Amsterdam and later worked for General Electric Company in Schenectady for 20 years, retiring April 1, 1991.
She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and she was very devoted to her faith.
She served as chairperson for her high school reunion committee for 30 years and was very passionate in planning all events. Marie loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her friends and traveling.
In 1945, she married her first husband, Elmer T. Rogers, who died in 1959 and in 1962 Marie was married to Clayton R. Carey, who died in 1986.
Survivors include her loving family; two sons, Thomas C. Rogers and his wife Elizabeth of Amsterdam and Michael A. Carey and his wife Victoria of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two daughters, Pamela Hyde and her husband William of Galway and Dianne Maslak and her husband George of Marietta, Georgia; six grandchildren, Scott Hyde, Suzanne Brown, Steven Hyde, Daniel Maslak, Brian Maslak and Courtney Raso; seven great grandchildren, Logan Hyde, Ana Marie Brown, Colton Brown, Taylor, Michael, Sarah and Grace Maslak; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Marie was predeceased by a sister, Gloria DeLorenzo, and recently her sister-in-law and dear friend, Margaret Rogers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
