Obituary of Dorothy Corey

Mrs. Dorothy Corey, 93, formerly of County Highway 107, in the Town of Perth, current resident of the Wesley Health Center, Saratoga passed away Wednesday at Saratoga Hospital. Born on July 22, 1911 in Sharon Springs, NY she was the daughter of Ralph and Inez Countryman Karker. Mrs. Corey resided in Amsterdam for a number of years before moving to Perth in 1950 where she resided until moving to the Wesley Health Center in April of 2000. She attended local schools and went on to graduate from Amsterdam City Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary?s Hospital and Amsterdam Memorial Hospital both in Amsterdam and was a member of the Nurses Alumni of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. She also worked as a private duty nurse for many years. Mrs. Corey was of the Lutheran faith. She married Roy Corey on October 28, 1933. He passed away on July 2, 1999. Survivors include a son, Peter R. Corey and his wife Kathryn of the Town of Perth; a daughter, Carol L. and her husband Dr. Thomas Wolff of Liverpool, NY; a brother, Francis Karker of Richfield Springs; 2 sisters, Irma Howard of Saratoga Springs, and Myrna Wilday of Sharon Springs; 6 grandchildren- Kathleen, Deborah, Trinka, Kimberly, Brenda & Todd. 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 23, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with The Rev. Brad Broyles presiding. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday July 22, 2005 from 5-7PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Community Center, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
