Obituary of Anthony C. Salamack
Anthony C. Salamack, 82, of Eagle Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital with his family at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on June 10, 1923, the son of Martin and Rose Favorita Salamack, he lived here his entire life. Tony retired in 1985 from the State University of New York, Albany as an upholsterer. Earlier, he was employed for several years by Mohawk Carpet Company.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of its former Amicus Club, and had served as an usher. Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and cruises that they took with family and dear friends. Those memories, especially those of the trips to Italy, were cherished by Tony and Rose.
On Sept. 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Rose Serge.
His loving family includes his wife of nearly fifty-six years; his sons; Richard M. and his wife Dolores Salamack of Scotia; and Robert A. Salamack of Amsterdam; step grandchildren Danny and Monique Wilson; a sister, Nancy Pamadora of Amsterdam and several dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tony was predeceased by two brothers, Dominick and Barney Salamack.
Funeral services are Friday morning at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Fr. Lawrence J. Decker celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours are this evening from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
