Obituary of Ruth E. Sleezer
Mrs. Ruth E. Sleezer of Gloversville, NY died Thursday, August 4, 2005 peacefully at home after a long illness.
She was born Febraury 5, 1925 in Broadalbin, NY, the daughter of James Morgan and Gladys Gibson. She went to Broadalbin schools, where she was an avid basketball player. She worked for Amsterdam Carpet Mills, Winig?s Slipper Company, Coleco Industries, and retired from Lexington Center last year.
Ruth, known to many as ?Grammie Pie?, loved being with her family, traveling and backyard barbecues.
She is survived by four children; two sons, Donald Sleezer and his wife Marion of Gloversville and Richard Sleezer and his companion Shirley Lynch of Gloversville, two daughters, Cathy Allen and her husband Dave of Johnstown and Karen Romeyn and her husband George and granddaughter Erica with whom she resided with for twenty years. She is also survived by one brother, Leonard Davis and his wife Janet of Mayfield and one sister, Shirley Ahrens and her husband Frank of Charleston. Ruth had seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment with a Balloon Release will take place at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
