Dear Rob, Linda, Mitchell, Mrs Lathers & Family
Just wanted to send condolences your way. I saw the crowd at the Funeral Home on my way home from work last night but did not get to sit down and look at the newspaper until about 9 P.M. I would have stopped in had I known-
Kelly and I actually saw you Mrs Lathers and DeVere at Albany Med back in June. We were there when our son was having Pre-Op for surgery. We were in a Waiting Room and I noticed the two of you walking down the hall but I was busy chasing the baby all over while Kelly filled out the forms so I could not leave to say hello.
I am truly sorry about the loss of your Dad, Husband, Grandpa. Reading the obituary, I can say that I have an extra appreciation of the perseverance and determination that DeVere must have had in order to work in and take over a Family Business such as he did. I know first hand that is not always easy. Everyone on the outside may think that being in a Family Business is an easy ride but we all know that is not always the case. I am sure that there were days when he had problems with his business / people / high interest rates, merchandise coming due, people not paying, employee issues etc. etc. Every business, large or small deals with these issues. The neat thing is that he just kept going all those years. That kind of mindset and stamina is something I admire greatly in my own Dad and that I know was a major part of DeVere's person also.
I never knew of his interest in Antique Cars or I would have cruised over sometime in Dad's 1930 Model A Ford.
Again, very sorry about your loss.
