Obituary of James Carl Peterson
James Carl Peterson, Jr., 54, of State Highway 30, Town of Perth, his sun set on August 31, 2005 at his home after a long illness.
His sun rose on September 7, 1950 on the Tinker Airforce Base in Okalahoma City, OK and was the son of Martha and Perry Foundeur. Jim was raised and educated in the Bronx, NY, by his Nanny and Papa Kavanaugh. In 1969, he moved with his grandparents from the Bronx to Fultonville, NY. The following year in 1970 he met Nancy L. Hill whom he married later that year. Jim and Nancy have been area residents ever since, and have lived in the Town of Perth for over the past 25 years.
Jim was employed for over 28 years by Central Nissan in Schenectady which later became Lia Nissan in Schenectady. He was an antique collector, and as a hobby was an amateur jeweler. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed going to the casinos, and was a cowboy at heart, where he liked listening to country music and living the country life.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Nancy L. Peterson whom he married on February 28, 1970; his daughter, Denise Carey of Schenectady; a son, James Carl Peterson, III of Florida; a brother, Paul R. Foundeur of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Christian, Mark Anthony, Shania, Shyanne, James Paul, Jamie Lee, and Patrick; a nephew who was like a son to Jim, Bobby Simmons of Schenectady; extra special friends, Kathy and Billy Saul of Amsterdam; his dog and constant companion, Buddy Lee; and many other nephews, nieces, and dear friends that loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. The burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda. Calling hours will be tonight from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim?s memory to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Rd., Albany, NY 12205 for relief from the devastating hurricane Katrina.
