Obituary of Margaret Lois Mead
Margaret Lois Mead, 77, of Phillips Street, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, peacefully, with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam on August 27, 1928, the daughter of Harold and Anna Montayne Mead, she was educated locally. Margaret retired in 1988 from the Housekeeping Department of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, and animals and just ?loved her kids?. She had been a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Her loving family includes her children: Eva Egnaczyk and her husband Richard of Amsterdam, Susan Alexander and her husband Rick of Perth, and Bernard J. Elwood and his wife Darlene of Amsterdam; a brother, Harold Mead and his wife Ethel of Amsterdam; a sister, Dorothy Litchfield of Vail Mills; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; a great-great grandson, nieces, nephews and cousins. Two brothers, Gilbert and Douglas Mead, predeceased her. On June 21, of this year she lost a daughter, Carol Dawson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The Rev. Alice Monschke, officiating.
There are no calling hours, and contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Rd. Albany, NY 12205. The family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
