Obituary of Doris J. Higgins

Mrs. Doris J. Robbins Higgins Townsend, age 82 of Gloversville NY, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY. She was born May 13, 1923 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Howard and Adeline Trapp Robbins. Doris was educated in Gloversville schools and worked as a glove maker most of her life. She was employed from St. Thomas Company working from her home for many years. A devoted family person, she loved music and being with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and helping others. She is survived by her children, Grover Townsend, Jr. Judy of Northville, Sharon Beyer Rob of Patuxent River, MD; Irene Sweet Daniel of Mayfield and Deborah Rulison Robert also of Mayfield. She is also survived by her loving companion, Douglas Schoolcraft of Gloversville, as well as fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and brother-in-law:, Jeremiah Townsend Janet of Ankeny, Iowa. She was predeceased by her sister Sarah Bloss, her first husband, Grover Townsend, and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
