Obituary of Washington C. Dopp
Washington ?Frank? C. Dopp, 75, of Mosher Rd., passed away in the early morning hours of Monday with his family at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on April 13, 1930, the son of the late Homer and Viola McWilliams Dopp, he attended St. Mary?s Institute. A lifelong resident, he worked in his earlier years as a driver for the former Ogden?s Feed Store. Frank retired in 1990 from the General Electric Co. as a burner in the foundry for twenty-five years.
He loved the outdoors, and spent a lot of time gardening and hunting. He bred and trained horses which he proudly showed in the local and national fairs and parades.
These horses were awarded many ribbons, which he cherished in his later years.
Frank was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the Sunshine Club.
On April 25, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Keosaian.
They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with their family last year.
Also, his loving family includes his children; Frank C. Dopp of Amsterdam, Joanne E. and her husband James Kretser of Amsterdam, Sally A. and her husband Scott Romano of Tribes Hill, and Cody K. Dopp of Amsterdam; grandchildren, Christopher and Jeremy Dopp, Sara and Jessica Romano, Hunter Dopp and Andy Kretser; a great-granddaughter Harley Dopp; brothers: William and Leo Dopp and a sister, Pearl Osowicki all of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews also survive.
Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Homer, Robert, Edward, Joseph and John Dopp, and by a grandnephew, Daniel Dopp several hours before his own passing.
Services are Thursday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
