Obituary of Iva Roslyn Brown
Mrs. Iva Roslyn Cotton Brown, 104, of Gloversville, passed to her eternal rest Monday, February 5, 2018, while living at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.
She was born in the Town of Danube near Little Falls, NY on June 2, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Burton Charles Cotton and Phoebe Sprung Cotton. She attended school at Brookman's Corners in Montgomery County.
She was a former member of the Methodist Church in Fort Plain and later the Foothills United Methodist Church in Gloversville. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1942, the Eastern Star, the Democratic County Committee, a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a former employee of the Boston Store of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Martin & Naylor and the Daytona and Grandoe Glove Companies, retiring in 1977.
In 1944 she was married to Harry F. Brown who predeceased her in 1978. She was the beloved mother of her son Kent B. Brown of Gloversville and stepson Gerald R. Brown (Dolores) of Portsmouth, NH; the sister of Marquerite Cotton Millar of Vacaville, CA; the grandmother of Kami Beth Race (Bill) of Hudson, NY and Trisha Day Alexander (Ed) of Tempe, AZ. Also surviving are a niece, Judith Neima (Ted) of Vacaville, CA, several nieces, nephews and four step-grandchildren, Karen Ballard (Bruce), Gerald Brown Jr. (Vicki), Tom Brown (Lisa) and Patricia Simpson (Don).
Mrs. Brown is remembered by all who knew her as honest, trustworthy, kind, dependable and charitable.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Saturday, February 10 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM.
Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
