Obituary of Donald C. Brand

Donald C. Brand, 66, former resident for 18 years in Perth, N.Y., died Thursday at the Stratton Apartments in Amsterdam where he resided since March of this year. Born June 6, 1939 in Mayfield, New York, he was the son of the late Leslie and Ruth Miller Brand. He was a 1957 graduate of the Mayfield Central High School. Don lived and worked in Glen Falls in the 60?s and 70?s. He was employed by the England Brothers Men?s Clothing Store of Glen Falls between 1960 and 1965 and for Merkel and Gelman Men?s Clothing Store in Glen Falls from 1965 to 1970. During the 70?s he was employed by the Native Tile Company in Glen Falls. Soon after, Don moved to Perth, where he became a union representative for Coleco Industries in Amsterdam. Don loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a New York Giants and Yankees fan. Survivors include two sons, Christopher C. Brand and Patrick W. Brand of Amsterdam; a daughter, Robin C. Brand of Amsterdam; a brother, Michael Brand of Glen Falls; three sisters, Joan Dambrosi of Junction City, Kansas, and Audrey Brand and Leslie Brand of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. There will be no funeral or calling hours. Donald had requested his body to be donated to the Albany Hospital and Research Center. Memorial contributions may be made in Don?s memory to the Fairview Cemetery, 272 Steadwell Avenue, Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
