Obituary of Anthony Cerasia
Mr. Anthnoy Cerasia, 101 of Gloversville, died Friday, October 28, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.
He was born January 4, 1904 in Filadelfia, Calabria Italy, the son of the late Frank and Chiara Cerasia. His family moved to Canada in 1920 and to Gloversville in 1923. Early in his life Mr. Cerasia worked at various area leather tannerys. He retired in 1975 from Gates Mills where he was a custodian. An avid Yankee fan he also enjoyed gardening for which he was well known. He was active in several bowling leagues through the years and bowled until he was 95. In addition to the church Holy Name Society, he was also a member of the 55 plus seniors and the Knights of Columbus Council.
Mr. Cerasia was married June 6, 1926 to Anna Caruso who died in 1994.
Survivors include his children, Sister Clara Cerasia in the Venerini religious order of Fitchburg, MA; Charlene Reppenhagen and her husband Anthony of Gloversville, Nancy Henry and her husband David of Gloversville, Frank ?Kiki? Cerasia and his wife Yolanda of Gloversville, Edward Cerasia and his wife Carolyn of Canastota and Patrick Cerasia and his wife Vicki of Perth. Mr. Cerasia is also survived by twenty grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 pm Sunday at Kobuskie - Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 10:45 am Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Rev. Paul Butler will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
