Obituary of Barbara M. Overbaugh

Barbara M. Overbaugh, 60, of Roosevelt Road, passed peacefully Sunday morning from her daughter?s arms to God?s own. Born in Amsterdam where she lived her entire life, she was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Genevieve Siarkowski Kozlowski. Barb was a 1964 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Shortly thereafter, she married Raymond D. Overbaugh on July 25, 1964. They were married for twenty five years until his death on September 2, 1989. For twenty seven years, Barb was employed by the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital in various capacities. She was lastly an activities assistant at the Wilkinson Center, a job that she truly loved and was well suited for her. Her greatest joy was entertaining the residents and watching them smile. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob Barker, a volunteer at Wilkinson, in 1997. That wonderful relationship was to last the rest of her life. Barb was known especially amongst her co-workers, for her colorful hats, and they looked forward to her entrance at any hospital social event. She was a member of the Century Club, the Gastric By-pass Support Group, the S.O.S. Club, and a former member of the Emblem Club. Her loving family includes Bob Barker, whom Barb referred to as her ?HusBeau?; her daughters who lovingly cared for her, Heidi M. and her husband Scott Bieg of Amsterdam and Jennifer R. and her husband Michael Rieken of Ft. Johnson; She adored her grandchildren, Lance Corp. Andrew D. Therrien, stationed in Iraq, Amanda M.R. Therrien, Nicholas D. Ossenfort, Michael D. Rieken, Joel Bieg, and Bobby Bower; her brother, The Hon. Aloysius Kozlowski and his wife Jean of Fort Johnson; sister, Rose Duma and her husband Victor of Auburndale, Florida; a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Angel Mendoza of Palmdale, California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A sister, Maryanne, and her husband Benny Schotts both predeceased her.
