Obituary of Ida Mae Holzer
Ida Mae ?Bess? Holzer, 70, of Howlan Street, passed away Tuesday morning at
Nathan Littauer Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Little Falls, New York on September 1, 1935, the daughter of Clyde and Martha Horning VanAllen, she lived in the Mohawk Valley her entire life and was a 1954 graduate of Fonda High School.
Bess was employed as a receptionist at one time for the White Mop Wringer Co. in Fultonville and later she worked as a sales associate for Agway in Johnstown.
A homemaker, Bess was an active member of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She loved to sing and was a choir member of the church for many years. She was a member of the Iroquois Seniors and had served as a secretary at one time. Bess in her spare time loved to crochet, and made lap robes that were donated to area veterans.
On March 25, 1961, she was united in marriage to Robert F. Holzer.
In addition to her beloved husband, her loving family includes her daughter, Judy A. and her husband Fred Unterberger of Woodbridge Virginia, and her granddaughter, Victoria A. Unterberger.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, the Rev. Bonnie M. Orth and the Rev. Barbara Floryshak officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Calling hours are Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home where the Iroquois Seniors will conduct a service at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church Choir, in care of the funeral home.
