Obituary of Ronald W. Dick

Ronald W. Dick, 66, of Baldwin Rd., Amsterdam, NY passed away on Wednesday December 14, 2005 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on August 24, 1939, to the late Theodore and Isabelle Kastauskas Dick. He was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1956. He was employed in the construction industry and was a member of the International Laborers Union Local 157. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the Cranesville Reformed Church where he was active in the Mens? Fellowship Club and donated many hours to various church activities. Ron was a wonderful gardener and cook and was known for his neighborhood parties. He was a trophy-winning member of the Amsterdam City Dart League. Fishing, hunting and traveling were also favorites of his and most of all he loved his yearly winter stay in Florida, after which he always looked forward to welcoming spring time back at his home on Baldwin Road, where he lived all of his life. Ronald was predeceased by his wife Rebecca Riley Dick in 1971. He is survived by his loving companion, Donna Wright, of North Fort Myers, Florida and Amsterdam, New York. He is also survived by his three sons, Terence Dick and George Dick both of Richmond, Virginia and Timothy Dixon and his wife Jennifer of Amsterdam, New York; his two brothers, Theodore Dick and his wife Janet of Toureuna Road, Amsterdam and David Dick of Bredenton, Florida; his sister, Arlene Malinosky and her husband Michael of Marco Island, Florida; his three grandchildren, Stephen Dick and Nathan Dick of Broadalbin, New York and Allison Dixon of Amsterdam; one niece, Kathleen Fryc and her husband Mark of Amsterdam and one nephew Dan Dixon and his wife Christine of Charlton, New York. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 11:00AM at the Cranesville Reformed Church, Cranes Hollow Road, Cranesville, New York with the Rev. Jacob Marvel presiding. Private interment will be in West Glenville Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 2:00-5:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York. The family request?s that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cranesville Reformed Church or to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department.
