Obituary of Dorothy L. Coon

Dorothy L. Coon, age 87, of Forest St., Gloversville NY, died December 24, 2005 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. Mrs. Coon was born September 22, 1918 in Gloversville, NY, the daughter of Bert and Mildred Buchholtz Parks. She was educated in the Gloversville Schools. She was a Glove Maker, employed for many years by the Grandoe Corp in Gloversville, and was also a home maker. Mrs. Coon was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed sewing and crocheting for family and friends. Mrs. Coon was married October 10, 1936 to Walter Coon, who died March 27, 1985. She is survived by her daughter: Laura Huddleston of Amsterdam, son Bert Coon, brother Carl Ward, and sister Audrey Rivenburg of Gloversville. She also leaves behind grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Coon was predeceased by her son Gerald, who died in March. Burial at Fern Dale Cemetery in Johnstown will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Coon?s memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
