Obituary of Jane Hawley Brumaghim
Jane G. Hawley Brumaghim, the heart of our family, entered into eternal life on Monday evening January 9th, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Born July 14th, 1923 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Martin A. and Grace B. Hennelly. She attended Gloversville Schools and then graduated from St. John's Academy of Rensselaer. Jane managed the Lerner Dress Shops in the early 1940's. Later in her life she attended Fulton Montgommery Community College and became a licensed property and casuality insurance broker. She managed the Hammond Insurance Agency, then owned and operated the JB Insurance Agency. Up until her death, she worked at the Fulton Country Field Office of the U.S Department of Agriculture in Gloversville with a wonderfully loving and supportive group of people.
Jane remained actively involved in life and community. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Gloversville and it's Rosary Society, and also the Johnstown Buisness and Professional Women, the Eclectic Society, Fulmont Community Action Agency, and Insurance Women of Fulton County. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge.
Jane is survived by her loving children; James F. Hawley Loretta of Little Falls, Cathy J. Gabeler, and Jeffery Hawley both of Gloversville, Susan M. Swanson Joel of Manlius, Mark S. Hawley of Myrtle Beach, S.C and Nancy Davison Patrick of Gloversville; her brother Edward Hennelly of Gloversville, two sisters, Ellen Heiser of King of Prussia, P.A and Marie L. Cady of Williamsville N.Y; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Martin Hennelly.
Jane was foremost a devoted nurturer to her family. She was a vibrant and energetic woman with a wonderful sense of humor and love for her fellow man.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Friday at Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 am Saturday, followed by a Mass Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Rev. Paul Butler will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville.
