Obituary of June C. Curtiss Young
June C. Curtiss Young, 80, of Prospect Street, died Friday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam where she had been a patient for over a year.
Born February 20, 1926, in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Ann M. Edick Curtiss.
She moved to this area at a young age and was a Wilbur H. Lynch High School graduate, Class of 1944. June lived in Fort Johnson for sixty-five years.
She was employed as a secretary for Amsterdam Printing & Litho Company in Amsterdam for twenty-nine years retiring in 1988.
June enjoyed her pets, reading, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Amsterdam.
On May 21, 1944, she married John Jack A. Young, who died July 18, 2005.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Gerace and his wife Khadija Susan of Oregon; grandchildren, Laila and Alexander; a nephew, Michael Young and his wife Marie of Amsterdam; a niece, Joan VanPatten of Clifton Park; two cousins, Ruthie Townsend of Fort Johnson and Robert Curtiss, and his wife Anita of Fort Johnson; a step-mother, Ruth Miller of Fort Johnson and a step-brother, Carl Hoff and his wife Missie of Arizona.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2005, at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York with the Rev. Brian Gould officiating.
Burial will take place in spring in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill, New York.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
