Obituary of Josephine Kowalczyk

Josephine Kowalczyk, 93, formerly of Bell St., Amsterdam, passed away Sunday January 15, 2006 at Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 7, 1912 a daughter of Anthony and Victoria Kissel Mazurkiewicz. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended St. Stanislaus School. Mrs. Kowalczyk was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah?s Witness in Amsterdam and was devoted to her faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to traveling to California with her daughter and son ?in- law to visit her late son Daniel. Mrs. Kowalczyk also enjoyed flowers and gardening and playing the piano, organ and loved to sew. She is survived by her daughter, Lillian J. Signor, of Amsterdam; a sister, Julia Coalter, of Amsterdam and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her son, Daniel Kowalczyk, who died on November 5, 2003. Funeral services will be held Wednesday evening January 18, 2006 at 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Interment will be in the spring in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville, Town of Florida, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6-7:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Disease and Related Disorders, or to the Montgomery County S.P.C.A.
