Obituary of Anne V. Brizco Conover
Mrs. Anne V. Brizco Conover, 89 years old, formerly of Truax Road, died Sunday at Mt Loretto Nursing Home where she had been a patient since November of 2003. Mrs. Conover was born November 13, 1916 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Edward and Mary Brizco and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and of the former Amsterdam School of Commerce. In 1940 she accepted a NYS Civil Service appointment at Plattsburgh State Teacher?s College. From 1941-43, Mrs. Conover was war liaison recruitment programmer for the Plattsburgh Chapter of the United Services Organization. In 1944-45 she was employed by the America Red Cross Field Office at Camp Stoneman, California. Mrs. Conover returned to Amsterdam after her husband?s military discharge. She joined her husband in the family business of Seely Conover Co., retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. Over the years Mrs. Conover had been active with West Spring Street School PTA, Amsterdam Lionettes, Amsterdam Business Women?s Association, St. Mary?s Hospital Auxiliary, Cranesville School PTA and Cranesville Brownie Troop of Amsterdam Girl Scouts. She married Robert J. Conover in June of 1942 who survives. Mrs. Conover is also survived by her son Bruce A. Conover of San Diego, California. She was predeceased by her daughter, Judith Anne Evers in 1993.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary?s Church of Amsterdam at a later date. Burial will be private in St. Mary?s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary?s Church, 156 E. Main Street, Amsterdam, New York, 12010.
