Obituary of Winifred E. Brown

Mrs. Winifred E. ?Winnie? Brown, age 87, died Thursday afternoon, January 26, 2006 at her home in the town of Bleecker, NY. She was born Winifred Greenfield on April 22, 1918 in Gloversville, NY; and was a graduate of Gloversville High School. Throughout her lifetime Winnie was an organizer for countless civic organizations, both in this area and abroad, including Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. Winnie was married on November 3, 1948 to Everett R. Brown who died October 26, 2004. She is survived by three children, Thomas Brown of California, Carl Brown of Florida, and Deborah Pate of Ashford, Alabama; two grandchildren, Savoy Brown and Shanna Brown; two great grandchildren, Dylan Brown and Gabrielle Brown; a great great granddaughter, Kristy Boney; and a great great great grandson, London Boney. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2006 at Bleecker Cemetery, Bleecker. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
