Obituary of Ronald B. Ott
Ronald B. Ott, 68, of Voorhees Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in Amsterdam on Feb. 5, 1937, the son of Herbert Karl Ott and Anita Schmidtmann Ott. Ron was a graduate of Perth High School. He then entered the United States Air Force where he served for twelve and a half years, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sgt. He later attended a sheet metal apprentice course. Ronald worked for a time at Mohawk Finishing before beginning a career with Mechanical Testing of Schenectady where he retired six years ago.
He was a member of the Local 83 of the Sheet Metal Union, the Lazy Eight Model Airplane Club, and a former member of the Perth Volunteer Fire Department, and had served as a member of the Town of Perth Grievance Board. A communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church, he and his wife also enjoyed wintering at their home in Englewood, Florida.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was pre-deceased by a brother, Herbert Ott.
His loving family includes his wife Mary-Lou Ott, whom he married on January 8, 1955; his daughter, Sherry N. Ott of Mechanicville; his son, Kenneth G. Ott of Amsterdam; his brother Rudy Elsin Ott of Perth; mother-in-law, Kathleen Kennedy of Amsterdam and grandchildren Katherine, Robert, Bryan and Ronald Siemann and Katie and Alexandria Ott; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services are Friday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Stephen?s Church, Hagaman with Fr. Ronald Matulewicz, celebrant. Spring interment with military honors will take place in St. Stephen?s Cemetery. Calling hours are this evening from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor, in care of the funeral home office.
