It seems that no matter how old I was-10 or 50, whenever I woke up in the morning at my mom's house, or when I went to bed in the evening, there was Jessie--in her beloved garden.
I have one fond memory of Jessie dating way back to one of Janice's very early birthday parties. Jessie had this game where the kids were to roll what we believed to be raw eggs across her kitchen floor and not break it. I was mortified to try to do this!! But, of course, the eggs were not raw, they were hard-boiled!! But, at 7, what did I know??
Jessie was the laughter of the neighborhood. Whenever I think of her, I think of her laughing.
I am sooo very glad that upon my recent trip to Hagaman this past Christmas, I paid a visit to Jessie. She was as sharp as a tack and of course, laughing.
