Obituary of Alice L. Sweet

Alice L. Sweet, 56 of Gloversville, died Thursday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. She was born in Gloversville on May 23, 1949, daughter of the late Alvah and Dorothy Tucker Porter. She was educated in Utica schools and employed as a nurses aide at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility for nine years. Alice was a loving mother to her three children and a caring sister to her siblings. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and her many friendships. Inspired by the outdoors, she loved fishing and gardening especially her flowers. Survivors include her daughter, Laurie Carpenter of Mayfield; two sons, Jeremy Sweet and Daniel Sweet both of Gloversville; a sister, Dorothy Warwick of Gloversville; two brothers, William Porter, Sr. of Bakersville, North Carolina and Alvah Porter, Jr. of Cambridge, New York. She is also survived by two grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Saturday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street with Reverend Wayne Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7:30 pm. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin.
