Obituary of Kathryn L Boccio
Kathryn L. Boccio, 87, formerly of the Stratton Apartments, Division Street, passed away Saturday afternoon at the Resurrection Rest Home in Castleton with her family at her side.
Born in Amsterdam where she resided all her life, on June 25, 1918, she was the daughter of William and Carrie Ingham Hornbeck. Following the early death of her father, she was raised by her stepfather, Michael Marchesani.
Kathryn was a 1935 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later the Amsterdam Business Clerical School. She worked for the former JJ Newberry Store in downtown Amsterdam and later for Breton Industries before she retired in 1983.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
An avid Yankees fan, Kathryn enjoyed reading and also knitting beautiful afghans which she lovingly shared with family and friends.
On July 16, 1939, she was united in marriage to Anthony Boccio. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1989.
Her loving family includes her children; Emanuela Castle of Troy; Michael and his wife Nancy Boccio of Summerville, Florida; and Kathleen and her husband David Anderson of Chester, Virginia; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services are Friday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment is in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, it is the request of the family that contributions be made to the Resurrection Rest Home, in care of the funeral home.
