Obituary of Fred Hoshlyk
Mr. Fred Hoshlyk, age 77, of Clifton Park, died Monday morning, May 29, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, following a short illness.
He was born on April 18, 1929 in Broadalbin, NY, one of seven children to the late Nickolas and Anna Damaski Hoshlyk. A 1947 graduate of Broadalbin Central School, Fred later served in the Army during the Korean War. He then became a machinist, employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady until his retirement. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, and enjoyed playnig golf and hunting.
Fred was married on October 7, 1970 to Jennifer Kurgan Hoshlyk who died on April 5, 1996. He is survived by two brothers, Stephen Hoshlyk and John Hoshlyk of Broadalbin; four nieces, two nephews and a cousin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter and Nickolas Hoshlyk, and by his sisters, Anna Honeymar and Mary Kenney.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St; Broadalbin, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday. Interment will take place at St. Basil's Ukrainian Cemetery, Broadalbin. Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
